Florida voters approved medical marijuana legislation with a landslide in November of this past year, but since then, state lawmakers did their best to limit Floridians by creating a method that permits vaporizing cannabis but prohibits combustion from truly smoking –. But as you almost certainly know, there are plenty of vaporizers that use the same cannabis pot that people traditionally associate with smoking. That ’s enough of a loophole to start selling whole-plant medicine over the counter as if the regulations were never establish.

Based on the Tallahassee Democrat, Trulieve, among Florida’s seven medical marijuana suppliers (which controls three storefronts in Tallahassee, Tampa and Clearwater) has recently started selling canisters of cannabis bloom.

“We are extremely clear with our patients that smoking is currently illegal, under current Florida law, however vaporizing is specifically permitted,” Trulieve CEO Kim Rivers said.

But what customers do with their cannabis when they leave the dispensary is up to them, as well as for the lawmakers that set restrictive rules, that’s unacceptable.

“I understand the technical nature of the argument that is being made to you personally. But if the net result was the retail sale of marijuana that could be put into another gear or a rolling paper, that was not the objective. In fact, the intent was to prevent that from happening,” State Senator Bill Galvano said.

For Trulieve though, whole-plant cannabis is very important to the patients who Rivers says are searching for the “entourage effect,” or an entire cannabis experience, as opposed to infusions or distillates, which contain only the breakdown selected by the producers, if it be THC, CBD, or a host of other chemical compounds found in cannabis.

“We feel very strongly that having products available that enable patients to reap the benefits of the entourage effect and to truly have a choice, additionally open to physicians to make recommendations to patients, is critical.” Rivers said. If this means we’re pushing the envelope, “So, we’ve had a form of whole-flower vaporizer accessible from your day we have started. This has always been part of our product line and can continue to be in the future

This really is the first time they’ve sold weed in bud form while Trulieve has sold ground cannabis bloom for vaporizers before.

Only time will tell if Trulieve can continue to run in the legislative loophole without issue, but for now, there’s a new legal way to get weed in Florida, and what exactly you do with it after you leave the shop – well, that’s up to you personally.
